Five Christmas Scriptures Every Kid Should Know

Updated: Dec 8, 2022

The essence of Christmas is three powerful words: Christ is born! Children must know the true meaning of Christmas and it’s imperative for us to teach this life-giving truth. An essential way to instill this truth is to go to the Word. Below are five crucial scriptures to implant the real meaning of Christmas in your kid’s life.

  1. “To us a Child is born, to us a Son is given.” Isaiah 9:6 NIV

  2. ”She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger. Luke 2:7a NIV

  3. She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus because He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21 NIV

  4. “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). Matthew 1:23 NIV

  5. “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” John 1:14a

These five scriptures tell us that a virgin (Mary) gave birth to a Son and placed Him in a most humble place – an animal’s feeding trough – a manger. The Baby was named Jesus; His name embodies His mission and conveys His purpose…to seek and save all people from their sins. Finally, Jesus, the King of Israel, willingly left the splendor of heaven and came to earth and took on the limits and frailty of a human body to dwell with us.
