Forgiveness Starts with Kindness

I’ve blown it many times – saying things I shouldn’t say and doing things I shouldn’t do. Importantly, I’ve not done things or said things that should have been done or said. I’m a sinner and need forgiveness. I’m forever grateful for the mercy and grace that Christ has extended and continues to give to me.

Christ understands; He offers me do overs. Christ forgives and because He forgives, my response to others must be to repair, give kindness, and consideration. I’m glad I memorized Ephesians 4:32 as a young child: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” NIV because the verse reminds me of something I must do – be kind and forgiving.

Forgiveness starts with kindness. Kindness can be seen in smiles, thoughtful words, generous actions, and a giving spirit. Always praise your children, preschoolers and young children when you catch them being kind.
