I have a good friend who is an amateur bird watcher; he’s got the binoculars, the books and a cool app called Merlin Bird ID by Cornell lab. He likes to sit on a screened in porch and listen to the birds and then use the app to determine what bird he hears. Sometimes, he sees that identified bird fly through the air.
Birds are beautiful creations of God. Some majestically soar through the sky; others flit on bushes, and some of the smallest birds have the most glorious songs. It’s fun to watch them at a bird feeder and wonderful to hear them chirp their praises to God.
When I watch birds at my feeder, I’m often reminded of that scripture in Matthew 6:26, “Look at the birds. They don’t plant, harvest, or save food in barns, but your heavenly Father feeds them. Don’t you know you are worth much more than they are?” (ERV) This verse speaks deeply to me about God’s provision. God supplies everything I need – the gift of salvation, the provision of friends and family, my health, and all my physical needs. Just the way God takes care of birds, God, my Provider, takes care of me in more ways that I can even imagine. My response is thanks for all His blessings.
