Obedience is Loving

I John 5:2-3a says, “This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out His commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep His commands.” NIV. In other words, we understand and recognize that we love others when we love and obey God’s commands. This idea of “carrying out His commands” means keeping His commandments, being mindful of His teachings, obeying His laws. Obeying God’s commandments is a way to express love for God and show love for others.

Elementary aged children are at a prime age to learn to obey and learn God’s commandments. Families must establish the ritual of reading the Bible together and seek to apply the Word by creating a spirit of obedience within the family.
