Words like “rid bitterness, anger, slander and rage” set up the final verse of Ephesians 4 which reads, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” Ephesians 4:32 NIV. Only until believers deal with the negatives first listed, can they be “kind and forgiving.”
Kindness is a word that preschoolers and young children can understand. We can lay a foundation of compassion and care by modeling and discussing kindness in our families and church. Consider this acronym:
K nit together with others
I ron out differences
N ip negativity
D aily read and hear God’s word
