Jesus understood the need to be thankful. Seven times in the New Testament we are told that Jesus gave thanks for His Father. One gratitude highlight includes John’s record of Jesus giving thanks before He miraculously fed the 5,000 men (John 6:11). He also “gave thanks” at His last supper with the disciples before His death on the cross (Luke 22:19).
Jesus thanked God in good and bad times. We can follow His example by keeping our hearts full of gratitude and our minds are focused on God – the Giver of all good gifts. It’s important to establish gratitude vocabulary with our children so they can easily thank God.
