As we prepare for the Easter season, I pray we will be impacted by I Corinthians 15:3-4 and live differently because of the truth: “Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.” (NLT)
We can teach this truth to our families, young children, preschoolers using simple fingerplays. Speaking and using motions will help to hardwire this scripture truth in their minds and lives.
Easter
Oh happy Easter day! (clap hands) Day One - (hold up one finger) The guards watched the tomb. (put hand above eyes intently watching)
All was quiet. (hold finger to lips)
Day Two - (hold up two fingers) The guards watched the tomb. (put hand above eyes intently watching) All was quiet. (hold finger to lips) Day Three - (hold up three fingers) The guards watched the tomb. (put hand above eyes intently watching) All was quiet. (hold finger to lips) SUDDENLY! (jump, as if in shock) The stone rolled from the door of the tomb. (make a rolling motion with hands)
Jesus stepped out! (walk fingers across palm) God's Son was alive! (point to sky)
Easter Day Fingerplay
This is where they put Him. (curve left hand like a cave) The stone was pushed in tight. (push right fist against left hand) His friends were very sad when they went home that night. (slowly walk fingers along opposite palm.) But on Easter morning, the stone was rolled away; (show left fist with right fist pulling away) The angel said, “He is alive!” (raise hands from earth to sky)
