Why This Book Matters
Children are never too young to begin learning the foundations of Christian discipleship. Yet conversations about stewardship and giving can sometimes feel abstract or difficult to communicate.
Lulu: A Giving Story makes the concept tangible. The story gives parents, teachers, Sunday school leaders, and children's ministry workers a natural way to talk with children about:
-
Why Christians give
-
Giving as an act of worship
-
Sharing with those in need
-
Giving generously and joyfully
-
Using our time and talents to bless others
-
Understanding that what we have ultimately belongs to God
-
Developing a generous lifestyle from an early age
More Than a Story
It's a Discipleship Tool
At its heart, Lulu: A Giving Story is more than an entertaining picture book. It is a practical discipleship resource that helps children begin developing a biblical understanding of generosity.
The story creates opportunities for meaningful conversations between children and the adults who guide them. After reading Lulu's story, families and ministry leaders can ask questions such as:
"What could you give?"
"How can you help someone this week?"
"What gifts has God given you?"
"How can giving become part of the way we worship God?"
In this way, the book moves the conversation from knowing about giving to actually practicing generosity.
A Practical Worship Resource
The book can also become a simple, memorable tool for teaching children about giving during worship services, children's church, Sunday school, and special giving initiatives.
Lulu provides children with concrete examples they can understand and imitate, helping them see that worship isn't only about singing or listening — we can worship God through what we give and how generously we live.
The Kenyan setting also provides an opportunity to present generosity within a vibrant African context, making the story relatable to children in Kenya while offering children around the world a window into another culture.
